Brought to my people in the early 1700s by the Spainish Jesuit Missionary Padre Eusebio Kino, the Akimel O'Odham (River People, Pimas) planted the Kalvash as a winter crop from November to February and harvested the crop in May and June. Today Ramona Farms brings back the tradition of growing the Kalvash on the very same fields farmed by our ancestors along the Keli Akimel (Old Man River). We enjoy Kalvash with nostalgia for the simpler life of days gone by when the Gila River flowed through our land. Tender beans - Non-GMO and grown without chemicals.
